  • How to change the default SSH port in OSX Server

    So you don’t want to have your remote login port (ssh port) on your OSX server setup to port 22. You can easily change the listening port doing the following 2 steps. There is no need to add another service.
    First you will need to edit your Lion Services file:

    
    sudo nano /etc/services

  • Simple Screen Capturing

    There are few ways to do screen capture in Mac OS X. These will save the image to your Desktop as a PNG file. If you want to save them to the Clipboard instead, just add + Control in all 3 options.

    Option #1 – Capture the whole screen:

    1. Hold down Apple key ⌘ + Shift + 3 and then release all.

    Option #2 – Capture just a portion of your screen:

  • Google Chrome Coming to MAC and Linux

    Brian Rakowski, Chrome’s product manager announced that they hope to have a product release for Linux and MAC by the end of Quarter 2 this year. If you want to follow news on the MAC development of Chromium, you can read more here. For the more advanced user, if you are so inclined, you can even install the test shell on you MAC. Overall I am quite impressed by how quickly Chrome is evolving, and the potential with it as a mobile browser and more.

  • Leopard Server 10.5.6 Update Problems on PPC

    After remotely updating a G5 Power PC (PPC) Leopard Server to 10.5.6 , we were very disappointed to find out that our server did not come back to life, or so it seemed. Since the server was updated via remote control, we were not on location to fix this problem resulting in a late night drive to the site to restore the server. Hoping it was something as simple needing to agree to a license agreement, we did not expect to find a blank gray screen when we turned on the monitor. Read the rest of this entry »
